Some of the BEST camp food you’ll ever have is inside this cookbook!!!

The Overland Cook

by Marco A. Hernandez

For a very long time I have been an avid outdoor enthusiast. Whether it’s hiking, kayaking, or off-roading, I truly enjoy nature, the open air, and the freedom that comes with exploring.

For me, the adventure was always about the trip, as the destination was usually either back home with cold pizza, or an overnight stay at a primitive campsite with meals that consisted of baloney or tuna sandwiches of questionable freshness, prepackaged store-bought deli salads, energy bars that were either going to break a tooth or were the consistency of sticky pudding, and the burnt idea of what a s’more tastes like after being retrieved from a campfire; covered in ashes and just not right.

This cookbook, by Marco Hernandez, has completely revolutionized my thinking about outdoor cooking. For me, this is a paradigm shift in my overlanding experience! No longer do I wonder if it’s going to be dark when I get back, if the squishy thing I feel at the bottom of my backpack is going to be in some way edible, or if the stuff bouncing around in the back of my Jeep is still in it’s proper container.

I look forward to setting up camp!

Marco’s cookbook offers up some of the finest recipes for camp-cooked meals. I have tried all of the sauces (with some variants on the herb infused butter), and all of the entrees. The Shredded Beef Sopes and the Ribeye Steak Sandwich are two of my favorites – made over and over again in different campsites.

Mr. Hernandez has put together some of the BEST-tasting food that you can share around a campfire that I have had … well, ever!

All of the ingredients are easy, storable, and not really exotic; it’s just good, filling food that tastes great at the end of a long day of adventuring.

With simple ingredients, Marco has put together amazing recipes for Crispy Chicken Tacos, Triple Citrus Ahi Tuna, Chimichurri Salmon (I am not a fan of salmon, but this recipe completely changed my religion!), Filet Mignon with Mushroom Sauce, Chimichurri Steak or Cauliflower Steak, Beer Battered Fish Tacos, as well as the aforementioned Sopes and the Steak Sandwich. Mr. Hernandez even offers up some of the recipes with a vegetarian option for those of you who can’t hunt.

Everything in this cookbook is easy to cook, and it all tastes great!

I cannot recommend picking up a copy of this GREAT COOKBOOK enough! Take it with you when you go camping, and eat some of the BEST camp food you’ll ever have!!!

While I’m pretty sure that everything in the book can be made over a campfire, this well laid out cookbook caused me to up my game when it comes to overlanding with my various Jeeps. Now I’ve got organized cooking (and eating!) utensils, a roll-up portable spice rack, an REI foldable aluminum table, a Tembo Tusk Skottle and Flatpit, and a great cooler (which will, soon, be switched out with an ARB refrigerator – as a Jeep guy, you can NEVER have enough cool stuff!).

This is a fantastic adventure cookbook put together by a fellow Jeeper and off-road enthusiast. Pick up a copy today!!!
