Become a volunteer with California State Parks and help make a difference!

The California State Parks are looking for volunteers!  From their brochure:

In addition to ongoing opportunities in parks, one-day events are scheduled for Earth Day and Trail Days in the spring and Coastal Cleanup Day in the fall. These days offer great opportunities to spend time with your family or to make new friends as you get out and help make a difference. In many parks, annual and special events take place to celebrate our resources while teaching visitors about the wonders of nature and history. Join us—be part of what makes California so extraordinarily unique and wonderful!

Don’t forget your California State Parks this holiday season – volunteer!

As the holidays get close, and the air cools off a bit (yep, I’ve already dug out my flannel-lined jeans!) don’t forget our California State Parks.  CalParks Park Champions program operates year round to help restore the natural ecosystems in state parks or assist with much needed general maintenance projects.

You can join one of the many volunteer teams who are helping to keep our parks going.  Current projects include improving the vital habitat at Half Moon Bay (San Mateo), Silver Strand (San Diego), or Palomar Mountain (San Diego), repairing trails at Wildwood Canyon in San Bernardino, and you can even help with general park maintenance at Candlestick Point in San Francisco.

California State Parks Foundation Calling For Volunteers

The California State Parks Foundation’s Park Champions Program is seeking volunteers for the Park Champions Program.  The Park Champions Program holds volunteer work days in state parks across California, and was created in response to the unprecedented budget cuts and closures that California State Parks have been facing. The Park Champions program provides consistent, sustainable volunteer support in the areas of park maintenance and beautification.

From the California State Parks Foundation website:

Park Champions projects improve the quality, safety and preservation of our state parks. Projects in the past year have included trail repair, invasive plant removal, habitat restoration, the rehabilitation of an historic orchard, fence construction, bridge construction, and re-painting park structures. If you enjoy volunteering outdoors, want to work with a fun group of people, and you want to make a difference in our state parks, then become a Park Champion and join us for the next work day happening near you!

You can find upcoming volunteer days on the CSPF website HERE.
