National Park Week – April 18-26, 2015

Each spring, the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation invites everyone to celebrate National Park Week. This year, from April 18 – 26 they are inviting YOU to celebrate all that America’s more than 400 national parks have to offer.

From the National Park Foundation:

From diverse wildlife and iconic landscapes, to vibrant culture and rich history, our National Park System has something for everyone.

Our national parks are kicking off National Park Week with fee-free days on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19! So, whether it is your first trip, or one of many memorable park experiences, there couldn’t be a better time to get out and explore!

Yosemite National Park Joins National Find Your Park Movement

National Park Week is April 18 – 26 this year.  Yosemite National Park has joined the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation’s public awareness campaign as the National Park Service ramps up for it’s Centennial in 2016.

National Park Week 2015 Encourages Everyone To Find Your Park

Yosemite National Park joins parks, programs and partners across the country to encourage everyone to find their park and share their stories online at FindYourPark.com. Launched yesterday by the National Park Service and the National Park Foundation, Find Your Park is a public awareness and education campaign celebrating the milestone centennial anniversary of the National Park Service in 2016 and setting the stage for its second century of service.

National Park Service announces public engagement campaign as centerpiece of 2016 centennial

I wrote about this yesterday, but there’s a press release about the shiny new logos for the National Park Service and National Park Foundation, so I thought I’d put the press release up here for you as well:

National Park Service and National Park Foundation Unveil Expanded Graphic Identity

The National Park Service today announced that the centerpiece of its 2016 Centennial will be a broad public engagement campaign to reintroduce the national parks and the work of the National Park Service to a new generation of Americans, inviting them to visit and get involved. The two-year effort will begin in 2015 and run throughout the National Park Service’s 100th anniversary year in 2016. Plans for the campaign, entitled “Find Your Park,” are underway in collaboration with the National Park Foundation, the official nonprofit partner of the National Park Service.

National Park Week is April 20th – 28th – Free Park Admission Monday-Friday!

April 20th through the 28th, 2013 is National Park Week!  For National Park Week 2013, get free admission to all National Parks (including your parking fees waived) weekdays from April 22-26.  Check with your local National Park (with 401 national parks, there’s bound to be one near you!) to make sure what the costs are before you jump in the car.  There’s a diclaimer on most sites: “Fee waiver includes: entrance fees, commercial tour fees, and transportation entrance fees. Other fees such as reservation, camping, tours, concession and fees collected by third parties are not included unless stated otherwise.”

National Junior Ranger Day will be held on April 20th, which invites young visitors to “explore, learn and protect” our national parks, and includes being sworn in as a Junior Ranger.

For adults, April 27th is Volunteer Day, where you can help on a variety of national park projects across the nation.
