As if 2020 hasn’t given us enough gut-punches already, California is now entering wildfire season – a season that brings increasing danger and more and more property damage and loss of life every year thanks to the incompetence of California’s government and the environmental stupidity that idiotic groups like the Sierra Club call “activism.” Environmentalism is why our wildfires are getting more and more intense every year.

Congresswoman Judy Chu currently has a bill, HR4858, being reviewed by a Congressional committee to designate the San Gabriel Mountains as a National Recreation Area, however she hopes to bypass the legislative process and have President Obama declare the mountains a National Monument with an executive order as early as this month without proper studies or public input.
San Bernardino County supervisors unanimously expressed serious concern for the impact of Rep. Chu’s plan on their county. Several Los Angeles County supervisors have also expressed concern over Chu’s legislation. Residents and public officials have created a grassroots movement against Chu’s campaign for further federalization of local lands.
Elected officials independently opposing the National Monument designation are City Council members from the municipalities of Arcadia, Bradbury, Claremont, Diamond Bar, Glendora, La Verne, Monrovia, Rosemead and West Covina.

I firmly believe that cannabis has been unfairly demonized by those who seek to control it. I also believe that the plant should be legalized and regulated, and that this is just an other example of what happens when criminals – rather than farmers – grow this crop. our national forests get destroyed.
Cannabis is legal in California. It should be grown legally. One of the shining examples of how to grow and regulate the crop was Mendocino County’s zip-tie program. No forest lands were destroyed or poisoned when that plan was implemented.
