The Planes of Fame Air Museum’s living history event for July is United We Win – Minorities in WWII, featuring the North American P-51 Mustang.

Open to the public, Planes of Fame Air Museum (Chino, CA) presents its monthly Living History Event. The topic for the October 12 event is ‘United We Win – Minorities in WWII’, featuring the North American P-51 Mustang. A speaker panel of distinguished aviation experts, historians and veterans is featured, followed by a question & answer period and flight demonstration when possible. The P-51 will be on display and will perform a flight demonstration. At 12:00 noon, the Membership Sponsored raffle flight will occur.

Proposal to transfer Giant Sequoia Monument

Suzy Johnson at the California Association of 4WD Clubs has posted an Access Alert related to the National Giant Sequoia Monument, and I’m forwarding the information on along to you guys.  If you’re at all concerned about access to California’s public lands, it’s important that you get involved.

From CA4WDC:

Proposed plan to transfer Giant Sequoia National Monument from the control of the US Forest Service to the National Park Service would result in loss of recreation opportunities

We need all of our members to urgently write a letter to the President, federal and local legislators opposing a proposal being floated to move the management and control of the Giant Sequoia National Monument from the USFS to the National Park Service.

DRM is for Suckers

I recently read a diatribe by an author about how great and wonderful DRM is.  And how it saved the music industry. And how they believe they “added something unique to the market, and I believe I deserve to be paid for my work.” And how ebooks are in decline.  And how “a lack of DRM decimated the music industry.”

Geez.  Some people.

So let’s set the record straight:

“Lack of DRM” had absolutely NOTHING to do with the changes to the music industry.  In fact, having DRM wasn’t even thought of when uncompressed, unencrypted music was being sold for years and years and years in the form of CDs.

Advice for Writers – Duct Tape

The question was recently asked on a NaNoWriMo Facebook page, “Those of you with children, when do you squeeze in time to write?”

The correct answer?  Two words: Duct Tape. Your children will appreciate it later when you’ve earned enough in royalties to pay for their therapy.
