Chesapeake Light Craft Kayak Building Classes Return to IYRS

CLCboatsIf you’re interested in building a great kayak, Chesapeake Light Craft will be holding classes at the International Yacht Restoration School at Newport Rhode Island this summer.

From CLC’s Newsletter:

“…Located on four acres right in downtown Newport, Rhode Island, IYRS (pronounced “iris”) is one of the most important boatbuilding trade schools in North America. Their facilities are magnificent: the main shops are in an enormous converted mill building ten paces from the water, and some of the most famous yachts ever built (Dorade, Sonny, Whitehawk) are tied up at the dock. Some CLC classes will be there, others will be a short boatride across the harbor at the Museum of Yachting. It’s difficult to think of a more inspiring place to build boats…”

Kayak building classes will be based around the CLC’s popular Shearwater sea kayak, Wood Duck, Sassafras pack canoes, and Nick Schade’s new recreational kayak design, the Ganymede. All beautiful boats, all great project to build – whether you build it yourself at home or in a classroom setting.

If you’re looking for something different, try the Kaholo Stand-Up Paddleboard build.

You Got To This Page For A Reason…

When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When your daily road seems all uphill;
When funds are low, and debts are high,
When you try to smile, but can only cry;
When you really feel you’d like to quit,
Don’t come to me, I don’t give a shit.
