Bishop Kevin Vann has announced that all masses – including daily and Sunday – will be temporarily suspended. All Catholics are “dispensed from the obligation of attending mass.” So us Catholic folks won’t be incurring sin for failure to attend. I’m pretty sure that all other forms of sin are still in full force and effect, and there’s no loophole available for sinners; you’ll still have to repent for your worldly transgression.
This is in response to the Coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.
Churches will remain open for those who wish to pray. Just remember to social kneel the proper distance away from others.
Christ Cathedral will livestream Sunday mass on Facebook (facebook.com/ChristCathedralCA) in English at 9:45am, Spanish at 11:30am, and Vietnamese at 1:15pm.
St. Edward the Confessor will livestream morning mass Monday through Saturday at 8:15am.
“I have grown deeply troubled by the rapid spread of the COVID0-19 pandemic,” Bishop Vann said. “While the doors of the church are always open and will never close for individual visits and devotions such as the Rosary and visits to the Blessed Sacrament, I encourage parishioners to follow the protocols communicated by the health professionals.”
May God be with us all during this time of abject ignorance.
